#4 – I said I was going to try and do something new every single Saturday for an entire year. Well, this was certainly a new one.
Das Romance
I think I’ve fallen in love with a German girl and now I will never see her again.
Friday was my last night in Split before heading off to Prague on Saturday afternoon. With month one nearly in the books it called for a celebration that would continue until sunrise on Saturday morning. After a night of celebrating like that you would think it would make for a brutal Saturday.
Wrong.
In my early morning adventures I met a lovely German girl named Ella. She had grown up in Germany to Croatian parents and was now living in Split attending med school. A few of us kept the party going at her apartment to watch the sunrise. We talked, we laughed, we shared stories. She randomly made me couscous at 6:00AM. I think she even proposed…
Of course, I said yes.
I stuck around until about 1 in the afternoon when it was finally time to finish packing and hop on a plane. At this point you’re probably thinking about how smooth and charming and handsome I must’ve been for some German girl I met at a club to make me couscous at 6 in the morning (I don’t even know what couscous is and I think I love couscous now too). You’re not wrong there.
But, like most things, I managed to mess this one up.
As I was leaving, I dropped the ball. We said our goodbyes and went our separate ways.
And being the idiot that I am, I didn’t think to ask for her number, or even her last name.
I walked out the door and that was that. Gone. Probably never to be seen again.
A budding German-Croatian-American romance, over before it even got the chance to start.
So, I ask of you, my 26 loyal readers, help me find Ella. Help me find love.
Sounds like the perfect mix for a goal scoring phenom that would forever change US soccer
